Help-Seeking Behaviors of Male Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence in Kenya

Very few studies examine the help-seeking behaviors of male survivors intimate partner violence (IPV) in Kenya or sub-Saharan Africa more generally. Using nationally representative cross-sectional data from 1,458 and multinomial logit models, we examined what influences men’s decision to seek help after experiencing IPV. Results show majority did not help. Those who so turned informal rather than formal sources. The severity physical was most robust consistent predictor help-seeking. Male severe abuse had higher odds seeking support networks Compared uneducated, highly educated men were significantly likely at all.
